Sodium Chloride 0.90g
Water for injection to 100ml
Characteristics
Sodium Chloride 0.9% w/v Intravenous Infusion B.P. is an isotonic solution containing 154 mmol each of sodium and chloride per litre.
Mechanisms of action
Sodium Chloride is the principal salt involved in maintaining the osmotic tension of the blood and tissue, changes in sodium and chloride levels change this osmotic tension and hence influence the movement of fluids and diffusion of salts in cellular tissue.

Plasma isotonic fluid replacement
Sodium and chloride depletion
Hypochloremic alkalosis
Vehicle solution for supplementary medication
